SPAM from website contact forms is becoming a major issue on the web. Its good practice to ensure you protect your website against these types of attacks to ensure it stays fast and secure.
Here is one method of applying a Captcha using Google Recaptcha on a Prestashop site.
- Go to: https://github.com/nenes25/eicaptcha/releases/tag/2.0.3 and download the free captcha module (Note this works for version 1.7x and above)
- For version 1.6.1.x and lower use the following version 0.4.x : https://github.com/nenes25/eicaptcha/releases/download/0.4.17/eicaptcha.zip
- Go to your Prestashop admin page and go to Modules, Click upload and upload the file your just downloaded from the above link.
- Once done it should open and request a site key and a secret key. ( you can get this by signing up and creating one at https://www.google.com/recaptcha
- If not search for "captcha" and try using the "Filter by" section to show installed and not installed modules. That should display the module.
- Enter both keys in the correct boxes on the module page on prestashop
- Ensure you click to protect your contact us page and registration pages.
- All done.
