Why Is My Domain on ServerHold?

If your domain shows a status of ServerHold, it means the domain's DNS has been suspended — your website and email will not work until this is resolved.

Common Causes

1. Outstanding payment or expired domain
The most common cause. Log into my.hostking.host, check your domain's expiry date and pay any outstanding invoices immediately.

2. WHOIS contact email not verified
ICANN requires domain registrants to verify their contact email. If the verification email was not actioned within 15 days of registration or a contact update, the domain may be placed on ServerHold. Check your inbox for a verification email and complete it.

3. Abuse or policy violation
In rare cases a domain may be held due to a reported abuse issue. Open a support ticket and we'll investigate.

4. Domain pending deletion
If a domain was cancelled or not renewed, it may enter ServerHold before moving to the redemption phase.

How to Fix It

  1. Log into my.hostking.host and check for outstanding invoices or renewal notices
  2. Pay any overdue amounts
  3. Check your email for WHOIS verification requests and complete them
  4. If neither applies, open a support ticket with your domain name

Once the underlying issue is resolved, ServerHold is typically lifted within 1–4 hours. DNS propagation may then take an additional 30–60 minutes.
