How to Park a Domain

Parking a domain means pointing it to the same website as your main domain. For example if your main site is mybusiness.com, you could park mybusiness.co.za so both addresses show the same website.

Step-by-Step in DirectAdmin

Step 1 — Log into DirectAdmin.

Step 2 — Under Domain Settings, click Domain Pointer.

Step 3 — In the Domain to Point field, enter the domain you want to park.

Step 4 — In the Point To field, select your main domain.

Step 5 — Click Add. The parked domain will now display the same content as your main domain.

Before You Start

  • The domain you want to park must already be pointed to Hostking's nameservers — see: How to Point Your Domain to Hostking
  • If the parked domain is registered elsewhere, update the nameservers first and allow up to 24 hours for propagation before the parking takes effect

Parking vs Redirecting — What's the Difference?

Parking shows the same website at both URLs — the domain in the browser address bar stays as the parked domain.

Redirecting sends visitors from one URL to another — the address bar changes to the destination URL. If you want visitors who type mybusiness.co.za to end up at mybusiness.com, use a redirect instead. See: How to Set Up a URL Redirect for Your Domain
